The King Fernando Route02 Sep 2014 Hiking, Hiking Routes, Prepirineo
King Fernando El Católico is by far the most significant son of the Cinco Villas region in all of history. Born in Sos del Rey Católico, his reign alongside Isabel marked a turning point in the evolution of many aspects of our country.
At Rutas Prepirineo we wanted to pay homage to this illustrious character, by dedicating the best of our hiking routes to him, starting in Uncastillo and ending in Sos del Rey Católico:"The King Fernando Route"
This is a beautiful route through spectacular hidden pockets of the Pre-Pyrenees. With a distance of 87 km and acumulative elevation gain of 3,600 m, the route is designed for experienced hikers who should be able to comfortably complete it within 4 days without too many problems.
On the way, you will encounter stunning villages such as Luesia, Biel, Longás, Lobera de Onsella and Petilla de Aragón. You will also summit the "roof" of Cinco Villas, the Santo Domingo peak, with an altitude of 1,512 m.
As with all our routes, it can be adapted to participants' physical abilities and as well as reserving lodgings, we also provide services for transporting luggage, insurance, guides etc.
If you enjoy walking and discovering charming new areas that are off the usual tourist trail, then the Pre-Pyrenees foothills are for you and the King will be an experience you will never forget.
